Totally Stacked

A few weeks ago my girlfriends and I were having dinner and we got to talking about stuff we collect. When I say stuff that we "collect" I actually mean that we are straight up hoarders. Stuff that we reasonably convince ourselves that we need when in actuality we absolutely do not. Most of the time.

One of my friends "collects" purses. My other friend "collects" cardigans. Her father has tons of pens. My dear husband could wear a different watch a day for two weeks. My mother has boxes full of remnants of different kinds of fabric (which I shouldn't complain about because in the rare occasions that I have needed fabric, she's usually got it).

You can guess that my "collection" is scrapbook related. I, my friends, am addicted to stacks.

This sadly is only a portion of my, ahem, collection. I have a stack of paper for most holidays and seasons. I have stacks of cardstock, glittered paper, and foiled paper. I have mat stacks and die cut stacks. You name it and I've probably got it.

Every time these puppies go on sale I have the following dialogue in my head:

Becky: "Wow, this stack is adorable! And I don't have a stack with ferret paper!"

Reasonable Becky (usually in the form of my husband): "Yes, but Becky you don't have a ferret and therefore you don't need an entire pad of paper dedicated to ferrets."

Becky (doing quick math in her head): "But this stack has 180 papers for $9.99. That's like a penny a paper. I need it. I NEED IT!"

Now I don't really have a ferret stack but you get the idea. And I do use the stacks although not as much as I should. Here are some layouts I've made using my precious stacks.

As I write this I am shamefully thinking of the two stacks I'm thinking of buying. Will I ever use all of this paper? Of course not. But it will be there when I need it. And that's the beauty of "collections." If I ever need a gold purse with a flower or a blue cardigan with polka dots, I will know exactly where to go.

Hey ya'll. I'm baaaaaaaack! I've been a wee bit distracted...

I went on a quick trip to Vegas. Being on a tight budget (and really there for a wedding), my friends and I had to get creative on how to entertain ourselves for a day or two. We dubbed it "Becky and Pauline's 21 things to do under $21." We didn't actually find 21 things. We got tired after two. But if you're ever in Vegas on a tight budget and not there to do "typical" Vegas, check out the Titanic exhibit at the Luxor (get your tickets at the Half-Price Tickets Stands!) and do not ride the Mardi Gras floats at the Rio unless you want to see the hot dancers up close. Then again...

And DO NOT wait for Snooki to show up at her club appearance because this is all you will see for an hour...

Spring is in the Air!

 I have a class coming up on Monday, March 28 from 6:30-7:30 pm. In this class we will be putting a pennant together and I will show you how to emboss paper using an embossing folder and my Cuttlebug. Best Creation Birthday Card Challenge

I've been SUPER busy working on some new challenges and classes so I will have lots to share in the next few weeks.

The latest challenge I decided to try was by Best Creation. The challenge was to create a birthday card using any of their paper. When I saw their new birthday line I decided to pick some up because I liked how bright and colorful it was. Luckily my best friend's birthday is coming up (so if you are reading BFF act surprised ok?) so this birthday card challenge was perfect!

Made this tonight while watching American Idol with the hubby (Stefano all the way!).

Oh baby what a sunny day!

First of all, I just wanted to say a big ol' thank you for all of your support as I entered my first scrapbooking contest. I didn't win but I still had fun doing it. Stay tuned for my next contest entry later this week.

I've got two new classes to announce this week! Both will be at Scrapbook Buddies in Temple City. First up, a Baby Paper Bag Book. You can choose to make a girl or boy book. They are exactly the same except for the color schemes of the paper. The girl papers are pink, peach, green, and purple.

Paper bags are an easy (and budget-friendly!) way to make a small scrapbook album. There are a variety of sizes and colors to choose from. You can add lots of pictures by using inserts in the openings of the bag.

We will make this book using the new Safari Baby line by Best Creation. This new line is one of my favorites! I love glittered paper! Kind of makes me want to buy some and save it for my own little ones one day...

These inserts go in the openings of the paper bags. You could add pictures to both sides if you wanted.



This class will be on Monday, February 28 from 6:30-8:30 pm. You will need a basic tool kit but make sure you have a good pair of scissors, glue dots, foam squares or pop-ups, and distressing chalks (a Crop-A-Dile would be great too!). Most of these items are available for purchase at the store and I'd be happy to help you find them! This class is $16.00. Make it for yourself or as a gift! Please specify if you want to make a girl book or a boy book when you call to sign up.

Class numero dos...Sunny Days Are Here Again! And as I type this it is pouring rain outside. =)

Quick story about the pictures: my best friends and I headed up to Santa Barbara for Spring Break last year to check out some wedding vendors. We thought it would be fun to rent a surrey and ride it along the beach. And it was fun...for about 10 minutes. It was a total work-out!

For this class we will use Glimmer Mist to color chipboard letters for our title and we will also be doing some simple paper piecing. This will be a quick class that would be great for all of those Spring time pictures you will be taking. Join me on Tuesday, March 8 from 6:30-7:30 pm. This class costs only $7.00. You will need adhesive, foam squares or pop-up dots, and distressing chalks.

Bo Bunny's Layout Challenge - "Before and After"

I am participating in my first scrapbooking challenge! I decided to try out Bo Bunny's latest challenge which was "Before and After." As soon as I read it I knew exactly what I was going to scrapbook - the mister and I!

Ben and I met in high school and we got married in November of last year after ten years together. I dug around for our prom portrait (thank goodness Grandma saved a copy!) to show "Before" and chose one of my favorite shots from our wedding for the "After."

I used papers from Bo Bunny's ADORABLE new Crazy Love collection along with some from the Dot line.

I found this pretty lace at a fabric store. What do you think? Do we look the same? =)

I used some Diamond Glaze on the title and added pretty jeweled brads.

Other Supplies: Lace, Bo Bunny Staples, jewels, glitter, and Diamond Glaze
