Moms and an Altered Clipboard

Happy Thursday! Thursday means that Friday is just around the corner. Yippee!

My last two projects for Pages From the Heart were revealed this week. The first was a layout I made featuring our beautiful moms on Easter.

The second project was an altered clipboard. I made a large clipboard earlier this year and when I found these miniature clipboards at Dollar Tree a few months ago I had to try it again! This time I skipped the Mod Podge and glued everything using Scrappy Glue.

I Feel...WICKED!

Three years ago my husband took me to see the play Wicked. I saw it two more times after that because I loved it so much. I've had pictures from that first show I went to buried in my picture stash, waiting for me to decide how to use them. On the Shop Hop last year I came across the Wizard of Oz collection by Graphic 45 and then it sat there for a little while until I came up with this:

I still get choked up whenever I hear any of the songs from Wicked. My husband very patiently waited behind the Pantages Theater with me that night while I waited for the actors to come out and sign autographs. So I knew that I needed an extra special display for these pictures.

I used three acrylic transparencies and connected them with ribbon. I used paper from an old dictionary for the flowers. The title was printed on the computer and cut on my Cricut. This little display sits on my scrap desk and it still makes me smile!

Sending You a Little Hope in a Paper Bag Card

Hi everyone! The school year is quickly winding down but the craziness is cranking up! We have so many end of the year activities coming up in the next two weeks. Unfortunately, I also have to pack up my room but I'm hopeful that next year I'll get some kind of teaching position. So I guess sharing a project about hope today is appropriate! (I swear I didn't plan that!)

Pages From the Heart: Cards, Cards, Cards!

Happy Friday! It's a rainy, cold day here in Los Angeles. I am trying to get myself up from under this big pile of blankets to go scrap!

While I try to convince myself to get up, I'll share my latest project for the Pages From the Heart design team. This month we were asked to create three cards. At least one of them needed to be a masculine card. I was given the Basic Grey "Pyrus" collection as well as some embellishments from Authentique.

Getting SMASHy

When I first heard about Smash books, I didn't understand their purpose. Weren't they just like a mini-scrapbook? I chalked it up to just another scrapbook company trying to convince me that I needed this new line of products.

Every time I went to Michaels, I passed the Smash and all of their pretty embellishments. Once in awhile I would pick something up and look at it but I always put it back. I certainly did not need a new project.

Then one day I came across this video and it just clicked.

And suddenly I had to have it. It was just like this journal that I had to submit once a week in my English class in high school. It was by far my favorite assignment and I even continued the assignment once the school year was over. Except now I had pretty books to use!

So I started buying things. Every time I got a new coupon, I bought something new until I had all of the pieces that I like. I even broke down and bought two books. And then it all sat there. Until one night my BFF bought one and we sat down and Smashed together.

Being the ultra-organized person that I am, I was a bit overwhelmed by the lack of rules and structure to it all. It wasn't until I figured out what these books meant to me that I could finally begin. I've decided that I will use my books for all of those momentos that don't fit or work in a standard layout. My first "Smash" is of a wedding that my husband and I attended that was very special to us.

I haven't Smashed since but I have some ideas rolling around in my head and I will share what I come up with over the next few months.
