Leaving on Jet Plane - Simple Stories Travel Layout

Hello there!

Today I have a layout I made for my local scrapbook store, Pages From the Heart. They recently got the new travel line by Simple Stories called Urban Traveler. I found this great sketch over at Let's Get Sketchy and this color challenge at The Memory Nest was perfect for this line!

I combined these two and this is what I got!

This picture was taken at LAX in 2011 when my husband and I were waiting to board a red-eye flight to Miami, which would then take us to amazing Costa Rica. And let me tell ya, we were not this bright-eyed and bushy-tailed 12 hours later!

Go See Do Simple Stories Card

Happy Memorial Day, crafters!

Hope everyone is having a blessed day. In between cooking and eating today, I managed to make a quick card for Pages From the Heart. They have this new travel collection in the store called Urban Traveler by Simple Stories.

I am not much of a stamper but recently Pages started selling these easy-to-use stamps by a new company called Fun Stamper's Journey. I used their chevron background stamp and it was pretty quick and painless for a stamping novice like myself. If you are interested in ordering anything from their catalog, contact Pages From the Heart to get your order started.

I had some help with this card. I used this color challenge from The Play Date Cafe and the current photo inspiration over at Inspired By Challenges.

Thanks for reading! Smells like my husband is just about done with the BBQ. He has become quite the chef lately! On tonight's menu is apple stuffed pork chops. I have no idea what that entails but it sounds delicious!

File Folder Mini Album - A London Daybook

Happy Friday! Yipee! This week was Open House so Friday couldn't come soon enough!

Here's a project I created for my local scrapbook store, Pages From the Heart. This month I was asked to work with the Simple Stories Urban Traveler collection. This is a travel themed line. As I haven't taken any big trips lately (insert sad face here), I asked my BFF if I could make her an album with pictures from a trip she took to London for New Year's. She graciously agreed and off I went!

I have seen a lot of DIY versions of the Amy Tangerine Daybook lately (If you want to drool over some seriously amazing Daybooks, check out Hello. I'm a Paper Addict) and decided to give it a try. I also wanted to try and use a file folder to make it a little sturdier.

I started with a regular, legal-sized file folder. I wanted to keep the tab so I cut from the other side of the folder, leaving the crease in the middle of the front cover. I wanted pockets so that BFF could save any brochures or other memorabilia without having to glue it down. I folded the bottom of the folder up so that I had a pocket on the front and back covers. After choosing and arranging the paper for the inside, I used embroidery thread to sew a seam down the center. I secured it with some washi tape. Shall we have a peek inside?

I even dared to doodle and stitch!
Lots and lots of layers.
Put my We R Lucky 8 punch to use.
I also FINALLY used my Smash* Label Maker.

I can see why people enjoy Daybooks - it came together fairly quickly! From start to finish, the whole project took me about 3 hours (which is a MIRACLE for me).

You can check this album out at Pages From the Heart in Monrovia. Thanks for reading! Have a wonderful weekend!

For Better or Worse Wedding Layout

Howdy!

Today I have a layout I created using sketch #112 from the latest Sketches in Thyme challenge. This sketch was a two-pager. I must admit, I had some trouble with this. I have gotten so accustomed to doing one page layouts that this was a challenge for me!

Paper: Echo Park "Sweet Day"

I used pictures from a wedding that I was in last month. These are some of the pictures from the professional photographers. This sketch was perfect for fitting in lots of these beautiful shots in front of the historic Whittier Post Office.

Check out Sketches in Thyme for this and many other great sketches!

Blue Skies Layout

Good morning, scrappers!

Today I have this week's challenge from Scrap it With a Song. The song this week is Mr. Blue Sky by ELO.

Last November, my husband and I moved to a new city not far from our old place. It was a big move for both of us since we had both lived in the same city for most of our lives. Big plus for me is that I now have TWO scrapbook stores that are 5 minutes away! One day we took a break from unpacking to explore our new town. The sky was AMAZINGLY blue that day and so this picture was perfect for this challenge.

Paper: Echo Park "Sweet Day"

I must admit I've been hoarding this paper collection for a while now. I love everything about it, from the hexagons to the vintage bicycle. The colors are just beautiful. But I went to a crop this last weekend and made myself use it to create this layout and another double page spread that I will share next week. That bicycle sticker is just about my favorite thing EVER! It hurt to peel it off the sticker sheet!

Check out Scrap it With a Song to enter this challenge or any of the other songs for this month!

A Few of my Favorite Friends Layout

Good morning scrappers!

Today is my very first reveal with Sketches in Thyme and I had so much fun with our first sketch!

And here is my take on this sketch:

These pictures were taken at a wedding last month where I was the Matron of Honor and my handsome husband was a groomsman. This paper collection is by Simple Stories and it is called Vintage Bliss. And it is ABSOLUTELY my new favorite paper collection. It is STUNNING in real life. The colors blend so beautifully. I definitely see myself hoarding some of this paper in the near future. I was also stoked about using my new Amy Tangerine date stamp.

To see what the other design team members did with this sketch or to give it a try yourself, please visit the Sketches in Thyme blog. Entries can be submitted all month long.

Blowing Bubbles Layout

Hey y'all!

I'm back with another layout for Scrap it With a Song which features some pictures from my recent trip to Texas. Our challenge for this week is "Blowin' in the Wind" by Bob Dylan.

Lately I can't get enough of the "Walnut Grove" collection by Pebbles Inc. This is my second Texas layout with this line and I also made another layout before that. I also squeezed out a card with it. So it was no surprise that when I went to pull out my leftovers to make this new layout, this is what I managed to come up with.

Luckily, I found a sketch on the Sketch with Color blog featuring strips of paper. And so the challenge of squeezing out a third layout was on!

Journaling: "It was the day before Lauren's wedding. We were all gathered together for breakfast and Lauren, Ava and I stepped outside to blow some bubbles. It was a sweet moment that I'll always treasure."

And I did it!

I managed to create this layout by using the patterned paper for strips and choosing a kraft background. I found that cloud stamp in the dollar bin at Michael's and I was excited to use it.

Sad to say now I am REALLY down to the bare minimum of my latest favorite collection. I think that means it's time to do some more shopping!
