End of the Line: A Zippy Layout

When Ben and I traveled to Costa Rica last fall we knew that the one tour we really wanted to do was a ziplining tour. We used Ecotrans (awesome tour company if you stay near Playa Flamingo!) for the Congo Trail Canopy Tour.

I am terrified of heights so I was very nervous entering our first line. But once I got going, I had a blast! I didn't try any crazy tricks  like going upside down or flying like Superman, but of course Ben went for it. He was a total professional!

The jungle was really beautiful. While flying down the ziplines, we also enjoyed iguanas, howler monkeys, and exotic plants. It was hands-down the most adventurous thing I have ever done!

So for my first layout from our Costa Rica Trip, I went with a ziplining layout!

End of the Line layout journaling reads: While in Costa Rica we went to the Congo Trail Canopy where we traveled down eleven lines and crossed several suspension bridges. We were even joined by howler monkeys! It was scary at first but we quickly got the hang of it. After all this means no fear"
Supplies: Bo Bunny Zoology Collection paper, Authentique and Thickers alphabet stickers, brads, memory thread
I saw the challenge over at Scrap it With a Song was REM's "It's the End of the World as we Know It" and thought I could play with the title and make it "End of the Line." There is also a line in the song that says, "After all this means no fear." That was the perfect sentiment for this layout! I used a sketch that I found on Sketch Support to make this layout. I made the banner in the sketch into a mini zipline by adding a tree.

Thanks for reading and happy weekend!

O Christmas Card, O Christmas Card

About two weeks ago I attended my first ever card swap at my local scrapbook store, Scrapbook Buddies. It was a fun afternoon filled with Christmas treats and socializing. All we had to do was bring two handmade Christmas cards.

I used Bo Bunny's Blitzen collection along with my new Sew Ribbon by We R Memory Keepers that I bought at Pages From the Heart.

This year I also decided to make our Christmas cards. Last year I sent a photo card with some of our wedding pictures since we had just gotten married and our family and friends really liked it. I chose one picture from our recent trip to Costa Rica and went with a design I had made at a make-and-take at Scrapbook Buddies.

Making 29 of these was a challenge. The worst part was when I was done and realized, "Um...what envelope do I use?" Epic FAIL! After a few panic-stricken minutes, I found that my local Paper Source had the perfect size.

Moral of the story: never make a card without having an envelope first.

Once these puppies were addressed, stamped and in the mail (five days before Christmas but at least they made it!) I felt a huge sense of accomplishment. I felt even better when I found out that everyone had received them well before Christmas, even those traveling out to Texas.

I think maybe I'll make cards every other year...

Merry Christmas!

Life is good...no, great!

This year I didn't have a birthday, I had a birthmonth!

With my beautiful girlfriends at one of my favorite restaurants, El Cholo
I am so blessed to have wonderful friends and family to share the passing of another year with and it inspired me to scrap a new project. I've had Bo Bunny's Vicki B. paper in my scrapstack for awhile now, waiting for the perfect project to use it on. I pulled out some acrylic sheets and got to work!

I used 5x5 acrylic sheets to create this wall hanging for pictures of my husband and our moms on my birthday. You can't tell from the top picture but I am blowing out a candle on a strawberry shortcake from The Cheescake Factory which is alllllll I wanted for my birthday.

And now I am salivating.

Anyways, this class will be on Tuesday, September 27 from 6-8pm at Scrapbook Buddies in Temple City. The cost is $12 and you can sign up over the phone by calling (626) 286-2846. You will need a basic tool kit (scissors, Scrappy Glue, and distressing ink). If you can't make it to the class you can always call and reserve a kit that will include a picture and directions (if necessary).

I can't wait to hang this up in my bedroom to remind me of all I have to be grateful for...

Happy Summertime!

Happy summer everyone! I've had a fun week with my teacher friends who are now on summer break. I checked out LACMA, did some shopping, and attended my first BBQ of the summer! Let the good times roll!

Tim Burton exhibit at LACMA

In the midst of all of this fun, I'm doing some fun scrappy stuff too. Sunday is my card class that I shared last time (still some spaces left!) and on Tuesday is this USA Banner class I created using the new Liberty line by Bo Bunny.

USA Banner

This would be fantastic for decorating your home for a 4th of July BBQ or any other patriotic holiday. I will be showing you how to incorporate corrugated cardboard as well as how to use an Epiphany crafts punch (yes I'm still addicted!).

Hope you can join me on Tuesday, June 28 from 6:30pm-8pm at Scrapbook Buddies in Temple City. Please sign up at least 24 hours in advance either by going into the store or over the phone with a credit card by calling (626) 286-2846. The cost is $12 and includes all of the paper and ribbon you will need to complete the banner. As usual you will need a basic class kit, specifically scissors, adhesive, glue dots, and distressing ink. All of this can be purchased at the store before class if needed.

FYI - If you are ever interested in a class but can't make it, sign up and ask for a kit. A day or two after the class a kit will be ready for you to pick up at the store with all of the pieces and detailed pictures (and instructions when needed) so all you have to do is piece your project together!

Next week I'll be sharing an album you can make for all of your fabulous 4th of July pictures! Until then...

Support the USPS and Send a Card!

Hey everyone! I've got a new class coming up and it's a first: a card class! It will be held on Sunday, June 26 at 2:30 pm. For this class I used Bo Bunny's Gabrielle line.

Check out the stick pins! As an added bonus we'll also be making a mini album with envelopes!

Those fancy little buttons were made using an Epiphany punch which is my new favorite tool. Like seriously, where has it been all my scrappy life?

You can also use the album as a card holder. This class is only $16 and as usual you'll need your basic tool kit (scissors, adhesive, distressing ink, and Diamond Glaze for this class). These items can be purchased at the store before class if needed.

Please sign up at least 24 hours in advance by going into Scrapbook Buddies in Temple City or over the phone by calling (626) 286-2846.

Next week I'll be sharing some patriotic projects! Until then...

Hey all! Hope you're enjoying my new digs. Got some new classes coming up and stayed tuned for a Beginning Scrapbook Class coming up in May.

Both of these classes will be at Scrapbook Buddies in Temple City. You can sign up in the store or over the phone with a credit card at (626) 286-2846. The price includes all of the paper and embellishments you will need to complete the project. You just need to bring your adhesive and scissors.

All You Need is Love Class
May 3, 2011

This is a wall hanging that is done on an artist's canvas using paper from Bo Bunny's new Gabrielle line. You'll learn how to distress paper and create flowers using paper from a dictionary. This class will be on Tuesday, May 3 from 6:30-8:00pm and costs $16.00.

A Pocket Full of Sunshine Class
May 15, 2011

After I made this page I kept commenting to my husband how much I love the colors in this layout. Then he reminded me that I should like them because they were our wedding colors.

Duh.

Anyways, this class will be on Sunday, May 15 from 2:00-3:30 and it's only $9! You'll learn how to use glimmer mist with a stencil and how to make some dimensional flowers. For those of you who like two page layouts, I also made this layout that can be purchased after the class as a kit.

Add-on kit

This class is almost full so if you're interested sign up soon!

Bo Bunny's Layout Challenge - "Before and After"

I am participating in my first scrapbooking challenge! I decided to try out Bo Bunny's latest challenge which was "Before and After." As soon as I read it I knew exactly what I was going to scrapbook - the mister and I!

Ben and I met in high school and we got married in November of last year after ten years together. I dug around for our prom portrait (thank goodness Grandma saved a copy!) to show "Before" and chose one of my favorite shots from our wedding for the "After."

I used papers from Bo Bunny's ADORABLE new Crazy Love collection along with some from the Dot line.

I found this pretty lace at a fabric store. What do you think? Do we look the same? =)

I used some Diamond Glaze on the title and added pretty jeweled brads.

Supplies Used: Bo Bunny's Crazy Love Collection, Blush Dot and Passion Fruit Dot
Other Supplies: Lace, Bo Bunny Staples, jewels, glitter, and Diamond Glaze

So that's my first contest entry! I had a lot of fun making this page and I look forward to many more challenges! Thanks for checking this out! Next week I'll be posting some pictures of my next couple of classes.

XOXO,
