Pages From the Heart: Let's Roll

When my friends and I went roller skating to celebrate a 30th birthday, I instantly knew that it was going to make a fabulous layout at some point down the road. For my assignments this month for Pages From the Heart I was working with the "Celebrate" line by Authentique. I thought the combination of red, black, and teal were perfect for this assignment. I also used a sketch from one of Allison Davis' new sketchbooks.

Dahlia Flower Tutorial

I made some cards as part of my project for the Pages From the Heart design team. On one of the cards I added a folded Dahlia flower.

Party Card with a Dahlia Flower

Here is what you will need:

Double-sided paper or cardstock
Circle punch
Xyron or adhesive of choice

1. You will need to punch 8-9 circles for your petals (depending on how accurate or not your folding is) and one circle for your base. I like to use a circle that is a little larger for the base to give me a larger sticky surface.

2. Cover the base circle with adhesive. I have found that the best method for this flower is by using a Xyron, although covering the circle with a tape runner will work as well.

3. Begin folding the petal circles. You will fold each side in so that they come to a point. After you have folded a petal, start adhering them to the base circle, gluing the point as close to the center as possible. If you adhere each as you finish folding them, it becomes easier to see how big or small you should be folding the petals.

4. Finish your flower with a button, large jewel, or Epiphany epoxy.

Pages From the Heart: Celebrate!

My assignment this month for the Pages From the Heart design team was to create a 3-D item. I am always looking for ways to keep my cards contained and I saw this great idea on Pinterest. The best part was I got to snack on Cheez-Its while making it!

This month I was given Authentique's Celebrate collection. It is a great line for a little more "grown-up" celebration.

Did Ya Miss Me?

I'm back!

The past month has been extremely crazy for me. My husband and I had been looking to move for a few months now but hadn't found anything. Then suddenly, in a matter of a few hours, we not only had found a place but filled out the application and had the keys in our hands! The following week was a whirlwind of packing, cleaning, and all of the craziness that comes with moving. We are just now starting to feel settled. This was the right move for us, despite all of the stress.

One of the best parts is that I get a little more than a crafty corner now. I actually have half of a room along with a closet and some built in shelving. After going from such a tiny space I am now a little overwhelmed by this space! So if anyone has some awesome organization tips, I could use the help!

Before... (can't wait to get to the After!)

I'll be back on Monday with my first Pages From the Heart reveal of the month. I am itching to get crafting again!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

XOXO,
