Everyday Life Layout Using Glitz Designs

Happy New Year!

Here's to an amazing and crafty 2014!

Today is a new reveal over at The Memory Nest. This month I am working with the Finley line by Glitz Designs.

Fun right?! Love all of the ombre designs and that owl makes me happy! This is a great kit with tons of options and 5 sets of letter stickers. And if you know me, you know I can never get enough of alphabet stickers!

I created a layout using this funny picture of my dear husband "working." I don't scrap enough "everyday" pictures so I happy to be able to use this one. I used acrylic paint (note to self: next time don't play with paint while still wearing your church dress...) for some splatters and lots of layering because I loved so many of the patterns in this collection. I added a hidden journaling tag with some pretty wired ribbon from my stash.

There are so many options with the kit! I'll be back with another project later this month. In the meantime you can pick up this kit over at The Memory Nest!

All Grown Up Layout

Hello crafty friends!

Today is the unveiling of another challenge over at Use it Tuesday. The challenge this week is to create a project using two hoarded items. Unfortunately this was not hard for me to do since I have a whole bunch of hoarded items!

This was created with the beautiful The Pier collection by Studio Calico. I love the colors! My hoarded items are the gold baker's twine (which I still continue to buy even though I have plenty!) and the Special Event ticket (which I still have five more of!).

Check out this challenge over at the Use it Tuesday blog. Thanks for reading!

Summer Reading Layout

Hello bloggers!

Today is a very exciting day for me. It's my first reveal as a part of The Memory Nest design team! For the last few month I have been on the summer design team for The Memory Nest and I was fortunate enough to be asked to stay on for the fall. I received a GORGEOUS package of goodies to use and I can't wait to use it all!

I mean, how awesome is this collection? Look at it!

Here is my first project using this paper:

I decided to do a layout about my summer reading this year. I read 10 books over summer and I enjoyed every second of it! I love reading and it was fun to do a layout dedicated to one of my favorite pastimes. Everything you see in this layout comes from the Cut & Paste collection by My Mind's Eye and is available at The Memory Nest.

Speaking of which, for the month of September you can use the following code and receive 20% off regular priced items! There's tons of new product in the store so shop 'til your drop...or until your fingers get tired of typing!

The Memory Nest Code: Becky20

I'll be back again in a few weeks with a second reveal with this collection. Check out what the other lovely DT members have been up to at The Memory Nest blog.

The Bride and Groom Layout

Good morning scrappers!

Today is the last challenge of the summer over at The Memory Nest. I have really enjoyed being on the summer design team. I have met some lovely ladies and we've had some fun scrappy conversations. Here is my last layout as part of the summer design team.

And here is the challenge:

As you can see, I stayed pretty true to the sketch. This was a fun layout to create because I felt free to rummage through my stash and pick papers from whatever collection. I went through and dug out everything that was in the white/ivory family. I was a little nervous about doing a monochromatic layout but once I got started it came together.

Check out this challenge on The Memory Nest and don't forget to take advantage of the $5 summer shipping in the store. Thanks for reading!

The Beauty of Fall Layout

Good morning, scrappers!

There is a new challenge up today over at Use it Tuesday. This month the challenge is Trends. I have been seeing layout featuring triangles a lot lately so I decided to give it a try.

The hoarded items I used in this layout are the pretty brown Thickers I found at a discount store last year and also this paper collection by Authentique that I bought last fall. To create the triangles, I used my square punch to cut out a 1 3/4" square, cut it diagonally in half once, then cut each piece in half again.

Be sure to check out Use it Tuesday to participate in this challenge and use your stash!

A Family Moment Layout

Hello there!

I can't believe that summer is coming to an end for me. I go back to work next week. Although I am beyond thrilled about starting a new job, I'm going to miss these scraptastic summer days! I've been scrapping non-stop! Here is my latest layout for The Memory Nest.

This was the challenge:

This picture is from 1979. It is my mom and her sister sitting on her car during a trip to the mountains. We don't have too many family pictures like this so I wanted to do something special for it. I actually had my mom do the journaling for this layout and she told the story. It was also a great moment for the two of us to share and talk about the family.

I was so proud of myself when doing this layout because I actually mixed collections! That is definitely a weakness of mine. The background paper is actually from an Authentique Christmas collection. The wood buttons and some of the stickers are by My Mind's Eye and the rest is from the We R Antique Chic collection. And I am just loving those stitched Thickers lately!

Thanks for reading! Be sure to check out this summer challenge over at The Memory Nest. Leslie also has a new store up with great products and $5 shipping!

Star Student Layout

Happy August busy bees!

Today we have a new reveal over at Sketches in Thyme. Going back to work has been on my mind a lot lately so I decided to scrap a picture from my classroom last year.

Here is our sketch:

I rotated the sketch so that I could fit my title. I used paper and stickers from the Doodlebug Take Note collection as well as some old scraps I had in my piles. The flowers in the picture were given to me by a student during teacher appreciation week. Being a part time teacher, I really wasn't expecting anything. Much to my surprise I was showered with gifts and these beautiful flowers. Being remembered by my students and knowing that I made an impact in their lives was one of the best moments of the school year.

Go to Sketches in Thyme to check out this sketch and join in on the fun! Thanks for reading!

Paws in the Sand Dog Beach Layout

Hello scrappers!

Today is a bit of a sad day for me. It is my last reveal with Scrap it With a Song. This was my first challenge blog Design Team and it has been a blast of a year. I have met some wonderful Bloggy friends. I'll certainly be checking in for some inspiration from time to time!

This week's challenge song is Toes by the Zac Brown Band. I love this fun, summer jam and it was perfect for a recent trip I took.

And here is my layout!

About a 40 minute drive from where I live, there is a stretch for beach that is specifically for dogs! They run around, off-leash if you want, and can play in the water and sand. We decided to take Shady since he loves his baths and a good sunbathe. He was a little shy at first. But after a few walks up and down the shoreline, he was walking in the water and laying out in the sand. And it wasn't a bad day for the humans either! The weather was perfect.

I had ONE sheet of this Bo Bunny collection left. I used a strrip and was able to fussy-cut flowers from the piece that was left. I also used some cork pieces from Studio Calico and my fun new Cork Thickers.

I also used this great sketch from Life. Paper. Scrapbook.

Be sure to check out this challenge over at Scrap it With a Song. To quote my favorite radio DJ's sign-off, the great Mr. Seacrest, "Becky OUT!"

Mustache Bash Layout

Hello scrappers!

Today is my first reveal with the Use it Tuesday design team! The first challenge for July is Birthdays. You can create anything that inspires you about birthdays. The only rule is you must USE YOUR STASH!

I created this layout featuring picture's from my good friend's birthday dinner earlier this year. The patterned paper is by Bo Bunny and the collection is called Peacock Lane. I've had it since it first came out - in Spring of last year! I originally bought it because of the fun colors and honestly don't know why I hadn't used it sooner.

Head on over to Use it Tuesday to play along and use your stuff!

Don't Stop the Party Layout

Happy Saturday, crafters!

There's a new sketch challenge up at Sketches in Thyme this week. I created a layout about a concert my BFF and I attended at the Hollywood Bowl last week. The Bowl is an incredible venue to watch a show. The concert we attended was Pitbull featuring Ke$ha. Ke$ha definately was, um, interesting? But Pitbull was a blast! You include special appearances by Chris Brown, Enrique Iglesias, Mark Anthony, and JLo (I literally teared up when she came out. I'm a HUGE fan of hers.) and it was certainly a night to remember.

And here is the sketch:

I used some scraps I had leftover from the Simple Stories Vintage Bliss collection. And this party layout was perfect for using those fun, sparkly, disco-ball grey Thickers! I don't have much experience with resizing photos so to get the smaller pictures I created a 5x7 collage print on Walgreens.com.

Go to the Sketches in Thyme blog to see this sketch challenge. Thanks for reading! Have a happy weekend!

Las Vegas Coke Museum Layout

Hello y'all!

Last week, my girlfriends and I took our yearly "Girl's Trip" to Sin City. It was a wonderful week to lay out by the pool and spend some quality time together. Even though we go once a year (sometimes twice, teachers need to let off steam too!) we usually manage to try at least one new thing. This time it was the "Around the World" taste test at the World of Coca-Cola Museum. We had a blast trying 16 different Coke products from around the world. Some were amazing (hello Smart Watermelon from China!) and some were, well, not (sorry Sunfill Mint from Djibouti!). I printed some photos from Instagram for this latest sketch from Sketches in Thyme.

I looked up all of Coke's slogans from the last 50 years and found this one from 1979 that made a great title. I'm still using my scraps from the Pebbles "Walnut Grove" collection. I guess I'm kind of a country girl at heart! That beautiful mason jar sticker actually said "thank you" so I just found a sentiment sticker that worked and put it right over.

To see what the rest of the design team created with this latest sketch, head over to the Sketches in Thyme blog! Thanks for reading!

Next to Me Dog Layout

Hello all!

Today I have a layout I created for the latest music challenge at Scrap it With a Song. This week we have our coordinator's pick, Next to Me by Emeli Sande.

This song has been on repeat for me lately! I LOVE it! I was very excited when I saw it on our challenge list. This song is about a good, trustworthy man who is always by her side. I could have easily created a layout about my amazing husband, but decided to go a different route.

I am lucky enough to have two amazing companions by my side. Shady loves my husband, but he never leaves my side. Usually he's snoozing by my feet while I scrapbook but today I caught him staring at me (most likely because he wanted ANOTHER treat). So here is my layout dedicated to my little cropping friend.

This layout was created using the latest kit from Paper Made Bakery. There is a story behind this kit that I'll be sharing shortly. I did some stitching and tried some basic doodling. I don't like my handwriting so a hidden journaling tag is the perfect solution for me! I also used this sketch from My Scrap and More Sketches.

Scrap it With a Song is currently holding a Design Team call. This team is a blast to work with. Check out the details on the blog!

An In Remembrance Layout

Good morning crafters!

Today I have a layout using the latest sketch for Sketches in Thyme. This week this beauty was unveiled:

My two favorite elements: circles and banners! Here is how I interpreted this sketch:

This last week has been a bit of an emotional roller coaster for me. I attended a family funeral and  even though it was a sad time, it was also a very beautiful moment to spend with family that I don't get to see very often. It was all very emotional but also an important moment for me. So this layout was a bit therapeutic to create but I'm glad I did it.

To create this layout , I used the new nautical themed collection called Atlantic from Studio Calico. Even though I'm really not a sailor (like, at all), the colors in these papers are very soft and lovely. And how cute is that little bow?!?

Check out Sketches in Thyme for this latest sketch challenge!

Suit and Tie Wedding Layout

Howdy!

This month at Scrap it With a Song the design team was asked to play DJ and pick the challenge songs. I'm up first with a song by two of my favorite artists - Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z!

When I was asked to choose a song, I immediately thought of Suit and Tie because not only is it a great song (and JT is pretty easy on the eyes) but the title alone has so many scrappy possibilities! This Vintage Bliss collection by Simple Stories is my favorite right now. The color palette is right up my alley.

I got this lovely PageMaps sketch from The Memory Nest. I tried out for their Summer Design Team. Got my fingers crossed!

Check out Scrap it With a Song to play along with this challenge and see what the Design Team has in store for the remainder of the month!

Leaving on Jet Plane - Simple Stories Travel Layout

Hello there!

Today I have a layout I made for my local scrapbook store, Pages From the Heart. They recently got the new travel line by Simple Stories called Urban Traveler. I found this great sketch over at Let's Get Sketchy and this color challenge at The Memory Nest was perfect for this line!

I combined these two and this is what I got!

This picture was taken at LAX in 2011 when my husband and I were waiting to board a red-eye flight to Miami, which would then take us to amazing Costa Rica. And let me tell ya, we were not this bright-eyed and bushy-tailed 12 hours later!

For Better or Worse Wedding Layout

Howdy!

Today I have a layout I created using sketch #112 from the latest Sketches in Thyme challenge. This sketch was a two-pager. I must admit, I had some trouble with this. I have gotten so accustomed to doing one page layouts that this was a challenge for me!

Paper: Echo Park "Sweet Day"

I used pictures from a wedding that I was in last month. These are some of the pictures from the professional photographers. This sketch was perfect for fitting in lots of these beautiful shots in front of the historic Whittier Post Office.

Check out Sketches in Thyme for this and many other great sketches!

Blue Skies Layout

Good morning, scrappers!

Today I have this week's challenge from Scrap it With a Song. The song this week is Mr. Blue Sky by ELO.

Last November, my husband and I moved to a new city not far from our old place. It was a big move for both of us since we had both lived in the same city for most of our lives. Big plus for me is that I now have TWO scrapbook stores that are 5 minutes away! One day we took a break from unpacking to explore our new town. The sky was AMAZINGLY blue that day and so this picture was perfect for this challenge.

Paper: Echo Park "Sweet Day"

I must admit I've been hoarding this paper collection for a while now. I love everything about it, from the hexagons to the vintage bicycle. The colors are just beautiful. But I went to a crop this last weekend and made myself use it to create this layout and another double page spread that I will share next week. That bicycle sticker is just about my favorite thing EVER! It hurt to peel it off the sticker sheet!

Check out Scrap it With a Song to enter this challenge or any of the other songs for this month!

A Few of my Favorite Friends Layout

Good morning scrappers!

Today is my very first reveal with Sketches in Thyme and I had so much fun with our first sketch!

And here is my take on this sketch:

These pictures were taken at a wedding last month where I was the Matron of Honor and my handsome husband was a groomsman. This paper collection is by Simple Stories and it is called Vintage Bliss. And it is ABSOLUTELY my new favorite paper collection. It is STUNNING in real life. The colors blend so beautifully. I definitely see myself hoarding some of this paper in the near future. I was also stoked about using my new Amy Tangerine date stamp.

Blowing Bubbles Layout

Hey y'all!

I'm back with another layout for Scrap it With a Song which features some pictures from my recent trip to Texas. Our challenge for this week is "Blowin' in the Wind" by Bob Dylan.

Lately I can't get enough of the "Walnut Grove" collection by Pebbles Inc. This is my second Texas layout with this line and I also made another layout before that. I also squeezed out a card with it. So it was no surprise that when I went to pull out my leftovers to make this new layout, this is what I managed to come up with.

Luckily, I found a sketch on the Sketch with Color blog featuring strips of paper. And so the challenge of squeezing out a third layout was on!

Journaling: "It was the day before Lauren's wedding. We were all gathered together for breakfast and Lauren, Ava and I stepped outside to blow some bubbles. It was a sweet moment that I'll always treasure."

And I did it!

I managed to create this layout by using the patterned paper for strips and choosing a kraft background. I found that cloud stamp in the dollar bin at Michael's and I was excited to use it.

Sad to say now I am REALLY down to the bare minimum of my latest favorite collection. I think that means it's time to do some more shopping!

True Blue - A Dodgers Layout

Oops!

I was looking through some of my pictures and realized I never posted this layout I made for Scrap it With a Song! Oops! the challenge was "True Blue" by Madonna. Living in LA, that song title immediately brought one thing to mind...

Dodger blue, of course!

I actually made this layout using patterned papers from a 4th of July collection by Pebbles Inc. I had some scraps that worked perfectly.
