Fun Stamper's Journey HUGS Trade

Happy Monday! Normally I'm not a huge fan of Mondays, but today is my first day of summer vacation so I'm loving it!

Last week was an exhausting week at work. I have been given a full-time teaching assignment for next school year (yipee!) which mean a lot of packing and moving boxes into and out of my new classroom. Amid all of the moving and end of the year craziness, I attended a special event at my local scrapbook store. Pages From the Heart has recently begun selling Fun Stamper's Journey, which is a new stamp company that began here in Southern California. Pages started a new meet-up called Peeps Petites. The idea is to create HUGS, which are like ATC's that are made into small note cards. There were 12 fabulous ladies that participated and traded cards. The only rule was that you had to use a stamp by Fun Stamper's Journey. In honor of my precious new doggie, I selected this stamp set to make my HUGS:

There were some very talented ladies that participated. Not being much of a stamper myself, I felt a little unsure. The ladies were so welcoming that I had nothing to worry about!

Here is my HUG! I used a dauber to color my guy in.

This beauty was made by my extremely creative friend Michelle from A Page Out of My Book!

This event was so much fun! And I love all of my little cards. They are the perfect size for a quick note. I have already signed up for next month's event and the theme is "Happy Birthday."

To join in on the fun or order any of these beautiful stamps, please contact Pages From the Heart in Monrovia.

I'm off to enjoy my first full day of vacation. Any fun summer plans out there?

Leaving on Jet Plane - Simple Stories Travel Layout

Hello there!

Today I have a layout I made for my local scrapbook store, Pages From the Heart. They recently got the new travel line by Simple Stories called Urban Traveler. I found this great sketch over at Let's Get Sketchy and this color challenge at The Memory Nest was perfect for this line!

I combined these two and this is what I got!

This picture was taken at LAX in 2011 when my husband and I were waiting to board a red-eye flight to Miami, which would then take us to amazing Costa Rica. And let me tell ya, we were not this bright-eyed and bushy-tailed 12 hours later!

Go See Do Simple Stories Card

Happy Memorial Day, crafters!

Hope everyone is having a blessed day. In between cooking and eating today, I managed to make a quick card for Pages From the Heart. They have this new travel collection in the store called Urban Traveler by Simple Stories.

I am not much of a stamper but recently Pages started selling these easy-to-use stamps by a new company called Fun Stamper's Journey. I used their chevron background stamp and it was pretty quick and painless for a stamping novice like myself. If you are interested in ordering anything from their catalog, contact Pages From the Heart to get your order started.

I had some help with this card. I used this color challenge from The Play Date Cafe and the current photo inspiration over at Inspired By Challenges.

Thanks for reading! Smells like my husband is just about done with the BBQ. He has become quite the chef lately! On tonight's menu is apple stuffed pork chops. I have no idea what that entails but it sounds delicious!

File Folder Mini Album - A London Daybook

Happy Friday! Yipee! This week was Open House so Friday couldn't come soon enough!

Here's a project I created for my local scrapbook store, Pages From the Heart. This month I was asked to work with the Simple Stories Urban Traveler collection. This is a travel themed line. As I haven't taken any big trips lately (insert sad face here), I asked my BFF if I could make her an album with pictures from a trip she took to London for New Year's. She graciously agreed and off I went!

I have seen a lot of DIY versions of the Amy Tangerine Daybook lately (If you want to drool over some seriously amazing Daybooks, check out Hello. I'm a Paper Addict) and decided to give it a try. I also wanted to try and use a file folder to make it a little sturdier.

I started with a regular, legal-sized file folder. I wanted to keep the tab so I cut from the other side of the folder, leaving the crease in the middle of the front cover. I wanted pockets so that BFF could save any brochures or other memorabilia without having to glue it down. I folded the bottom of the folder up so that I had a pocket on the front and back covers. After choosing and arranging the paper for the inside, I used embroidery thread to sew a seam down the center. I secured it with some washi tape. Shall we have a peek inside?

I even dared to doodle and stitch!
Lots and lots of layers.
Put my We R Lucky 8 punch to use.
I also FINALLY used my Smash* Label Maker.

I can see why people enjoy Daybooks - it came together fairly quickly! From start to finish, the whole project took me about 3 hours (which is a MIRACLE for me).

You can check this album out at Pages From the Heart in Monrovia. Thanks for reading! Have a wonderful weekend!

Hello Box Card

Hello scrappy friends!

I have a new card today that I created for Pages From the Heart. I love scouring the Internet for new folding methods when making cards. I often find myself at Dawn's Stamping Thoughts and I was in luck when I found this video tutorial for a box card. Check out her site for more fabulous ideas!

This is my take on the box card!

I am determined to use every scrap I have of the Pebbles "Walnut Grove" collection! I love it! I've had it for a while now just because I don't want to run out! I am a true scrapbook hoarder. Guilty as charged.

If you are ever in the Monrovia, California area, please make a trip to Pages From the Heart. It is a wonderful store with lovely people!

Reviewing 2012...in an Altered Altoids Can!

Happy Monday ya'll!

Had the day off today and I meant to get some crafting in. However it is now 5:00 p.m. and still no crafting! So I thought I would at least share a project on the blog and that way I can say I did SOMETHING productive today (aside from watch The Bachelor tonight, of course!).

I had seen altered Altoids cans floating around in the World Wide Web for awhile now and so I asked my husband to start saving these little cans for me. I started by spray painting my can silver. Then I followed this fabulous tutorial by Patter Cross over at Create x3.

This project was created for Pages From the Heart. They gave me the Antique Chic collection by We R Memory Keepers. The colors in this collection are gorgeous!

It's not often that I do a project that is all about me so I enjoyed putting this together and reminiscing over some of my favorite moments from 2012. Thanks for reading!

I am entering this project in Monday Craft Madness #12 over at Scrapbook Steals. The theme this week is "You are.."

A Spellbound Halloween Layout

There is a new challenge up at Scrap it With a Song! This week's song is the classic "I Put a Spell on You" and this is my take on the song.

This picture has a very sweet story to it. I was participating in a Trunk or Treat event at the elementary school I was working at at the time. These two little girls really thought I was Snow White! They asked their mom, "How did Snow White get here from Disneyland? Doesn't she have to go back?" Seeing their excitement really warmed my heart. And I got to feel like a princess. Win-win!

You can see the challenge on the Scrap it With a Song blog. I also shared this with Pages With the Heart, who asked me to create with the "Black Widow" collection by We R.

One More Halloween Card

Today I have my last Halloween card for the Pages From the Heart design team. I used the "Black Widow" collection by We R Memory Keepers. I put my Sew Ribbon to use to add some sparkly ribbon and punched some scalloped squares.

Thanks for looking!

Spooky Halloween Card

BOO!

Did I scare you?

Well this guy ain't scared! This is my third card for Pages From the Heart. I was given the "Black Widow" collection by We R Memory Keepers which has been a lot of fun to work with.

I used a stamp to make the witch hat and accented it with orange Stickles. I also punched the doily by using the new mini Lucky 8 punch, also by We R.

I still have one more card so stay tuned! Thanks for reading!

This card was made using a sketch from Sweet Stamp Shop.

"It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!" Halloween Card

Hello there!

I have been on a Halloween kick these last two weeks. I think this is the first time that I have ever really scrapped anything for Halloween! No wonder I can't stop!

My design team assignment with Pages From the Heart for this month was to use the "Black Widow" collection by We R Memory Keepers. Today I have another card and it features a quote from one of my favorite movies ever, "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown."

I used my hexagon punch to use up some of my scraps. I pieced together the pumpkin by cutting three ovals and popping the center up with foam squares.

Thanks for reading!

I entered this card in the ScrapFit Step Class #9: Paper Piecing.

You can read more about how I made this and also see the supply list over on the Pages From the Heart blog.

A special thanks to my friend Jenny and her precious son Mason for letting me use their pictures! Thanks guys!

Back to School Post-It Note Holder

Hi there! I'm back with another back to school project that your favorite teacher would definitely appreciate. This project is featured this week on the Pages From the Heart blog as well. This month I was given the new Authentique "Curiosity" collection to work with.

I used a sign holder I found at an office supply store to make the holder. You can read more about how I made this as well as see the supply list by heading over to the Pages From the Heart blog.

Thanks for reading! I'll be back later this week with my last back to school project.

Beach Card and Layout

My last two projects for the month are up on the Pages From the Heart blog this week. I was given the "Fresh" collection by Authentique and I love it! My favorite part of summer is going to the beach and Authentique's take on beachy colors is perfect.

This month I made a photo tray as well as a card and a layout. The layout features pictures of my husband and I in Costa Rica last year.

You can read the supply list and see some more pictures over on the Pages From the Heart blog. You can also see these projects in person at the store in Monrovia.

A Beach Day Photo Tray You Say?

This is my week over on the Pages From the Heart blog. I made three projects using the Authentique "Fresh" collection. It's a beach-themed collection but the colors work for just about any event!

My grandma comes to visit every summer and the one thing she always wants to do is dip her feet in the ocean. I wanted a special way to display these pictures and photo trays are a great means for that.

You can read more about this project as well as see the supply list over on the Pages From the Heart blog. I will also be teaching this as a class on August 23rd at Pages! Thanks for reading!
