Fly Away With Me

First of all I'd like to say thanks to everyone who came to my very first scrapbook class! We had a great turnout and I'm excited for next week's "Going Places" pennant class.

Speaking of pennants...

A few weeks ago I saw an interesting post on Facebook. I'm usually not one to participate in Facebook games like "Change your status to where you put your purse to support the bluebirds in Antarctica" but this one caught my eye:

Pay it forward 2011: I promise to send something handmade to the first 5 people who leave a comment here. They in turn must post this and send something they make to the first 5 people who comment on their status. The rules are that it must be handmade by you and it must be sent to your 5 people sometime in 2011!
Now this I can get on board with! After having 5 fabulous friends sign up it was time to get to work. I'd seen pennants in all of my latest scrapbook magazines so I decided to make this card with a pennant on it after seeing it in an awesome YouTube tutorial by Kristina Werner, one of the Garden Girls from Two Peas in a Bucket (can't take credit for this cute design!).

I made 5 of these guys and boy did my hands hurt after cutting all those little flags!

I popped the little flags up to add dimension and did some stitching around the clouds. I just got this border punch and was happy to pull it out. After some digging in the dollar bins at my nearest craft store I found this stamp to finish the card off.

I hope my friends liked these! Don't forget to check out my next class where we will be making a pennant on a travel layout. The class is next Wednesday, February 2 and it's only $12!

XOXO,

Oh, the places you'll go...

Hey everyone! My next class will be this "Going Places" layout!

This 2 page layout uses the new Travel collection from Best Creation. In this class we will be creating the cute pennant. Pennants are all the rage right now in scrapbooking and I will show you that you can use it as a fun embellishment on anything!

The "Going Places" class will be on Wednesday, February 2 from 6:30pm - 7:30pm at Scrapbook Buddies in Temple City. The cost of the class is $12 and you can sign up by calling (626) 286-2846. It will be fast and easy! You will need a class toolkit (namely 3D foam squares, adhesive, and chalk) and as always I'd be more than happy to help you find these items at the store before class starts.

There's also still time to sign up for the "Snow Fun" page this Monday, January 24! It's only $7!

Hope to see you at one of these two classes and thanks for stopping by again!

Love,

Confessions of a Scrapaholic

My name is Becky and I am a scrapaholic.

2010 was a big year for me. I had extreme highs like planning my wedding and getting married, and extreme lows like losing my job for the second year in a row. After having moments of, "What do you mean I have to pay for outdoor grills because of fire codes?" and "Is there any way I can special order this dress - AND have it ready in three weeks?", all I could think of in the (few) quiet moments was "I lost my job. What am I going to do now?" So, I decided to follow my crazy dream and pursue what I enjoy doing most- scrapbooking. My New Year's resolution is to stop talking about what I love and start actually DOING it. So, consider this my first step of DOING.

My goal by the end of 2011 is to start selling some of my work and immerse myself in all that is scrapbooking.
Now onto the good stuff...

Step 1: Take my knowledge of teaching and apply it to scrapbooking. Check!

Monday, January 24 will be my very first scrapbooking class!

This quick and simple layout uses paper from Best Creation's Winter Wonderful line as well as some paper from Bo Bunny. For those of you who are unfamiliar with using a Cricut, and for those of you who have one that's still in the box (I know you're out there!), I'll show you how a simple cut can create a focal point for your entire layout. We will also be using Glimmer Mist by Tattered Angels on chipboard letters to create a wintery title.

This would be a great class for scrappers who are just starting out or who want to get some practice using Glimmer Mist. Annnnnnnnnd it's only $7! Join me from 6:30-7:30 pm at Scrapbook Buddies in Temple City. You will need liquid (Zip Dry or Scrappy Glue) and dry adhesive (like a tape runner). I also used Stickles, Diamond Glaze, and chalks to brighten things up. If you are unsure what any of these are, I'd be happy to help you before class starts. Call (626) 286-2846 to sign up.

I hope you'll stop by every once in awhile and check out what I'm up to!

Step 2: Start a blog. Check!

Love,
