A New Page...

I think that's my cheesiest title yet. =)

I can now officially add "design team member" to my scrappy resume! Today was my reveal day for the Pages from the Heart design team, which is a great local scrapbook store in Monrovia, CA. I am thrilled for this new opportunity and can't wait to take my scrapping to the next level. I met the other fabulous designers and coordinators last week and learned about all of the exciting challenges and events that will take place during my 6 month term. Excited doesn't even scratch the surface of how I feel!

You can read all about it on the Pages from the Heart blog. My scrappy plate is officially full! Yayyyyyyy!

The Amazing Race-Pasadena style!

A few weeks ago my partner-in-crime Stephanie and I participated in a CityRace Urban Adventure Hunt hosted by RaceLA. Stephanie, a big fan of the tv show The Amazing Race, had been wanting to do one of these for a long time and when RaceLA announced a Pasadena race, she had to do it.

We arrived in Old Town at 9am and sized up the competition. Teams had some funny matching t-shirts like Defending Champs (they weren't) and Those Damn Train People (which I still don't quite get). Our shirts were made by Stephanie's friend and said Home Grown 91780 and our team name was born!

Waiting for the race to get started

Once everyone arrived we received our clue packets and we were off! We had to figure out the clues and find the locations. Having grown up going to Old Town Pasadena quite often, I thought it would be pretty easy. I was SO wrong! It was really challenging but so much fun. And I really learned a lot. Did you know that The Container Store building was the original city hall? For a few of the questions we asked random people walking around Old Town so if you are ever in Pasadena and strange people in matching shirts ask you questions, be friendly please!

The Container Store

It took us almost three hours to complete the question and we did have a few wrong. We came in 17th place out of 40 teams so we were pretty proud. Our next RaceLA is this Sunday in Laguna Beach and I am sooooooo excited!

This is Halloween!

This year I will be celebrating Halloween in Costa Rica! I know my husband is a little disappointed that he doesn't get a new costume this year. I wanted to commemorate last year's costume (which takes the cake) and when Scrapbook Buddies received Doodlebug's new Halloween line, I HAD to have it! So I got working on a new class.

In this class we will be making this picture frame and two cards. We will be playing with stamps, some paper piecing, and actual dictionary paper to make a prize ribbon! And I think the "Best Costume" ribbon should go to that handsome penguin next to me!

This class will be on Tuesday, October 11 at 6pm AND Wednesday, October 12 at 11am. Please call (626)286-2846 to sign up for either time. You will need scissors, black distressing ink, and adhesive which can be purchased the night of the class if needed.

I guess I have no excuse for buying mini-Snickers bars this year...shhhh...

Mellow Yellow

Have you ever had a project that was so daunting that you put it off...and put it off again? That is how I have felt about my wedding scrapbook. I am obviously an avid scrapbooker so people assume I would have finished months ago but I am just so intimated by it that for the last ten months all I had done was buy the paper! I mean how do you go about picking pictures when you have over 800 images and you love 110% of them! So a few weeks ago, with the help of my friend Michelle, I FINALLY got started on a layout. I started with a sketch by Becky Fleck and some beautiful paper I bought by the ton by Pebbles.

I really like this paper because the black and white is so elegant and the yellow just gives it the right pop of color. And a special thank you to Michelle for letting me raid her letter stickers and giving me the idea for making a "ring!"

Now let's hope it doesn't take me another 10 months to make a second layout! I'm entering this in a contest over at Scrap It With a Song which is a really fun blog that posts challenges that are inspired by songs. This week's challenge is to create a project inspired by Coldplay's "Yellow." I'm also entering it over at ScrapFIT's Salt and Pepper Workout!

I'm off to finish the last book in The Hunger Games trilogy. I can't put it down!

Life is good...no, great!

This year I didn't have a birthday, I had a birthmonth!

With my beautiful girlfriends at one of my favorite restaurants, El Cholo
I am so blessed to have wonderful friends and family to share the passing of another year with and it inspired me to scrap a new project. I've had Bo Bunny's Vicki B. paper in my scrapstack for awhile now, waiting for the perfect project to use it on. I pulled out some acrylic sheets and got to work!

I used 5x5 acrylic sheets to create this wall hanging for pictures of my husband and our moms on my birthday. You can't tell from the top picture but I am blowing out a candle on a strawberry shortcake from The Cheescake Factory which is alllllll I wanted for my birthday.

And now I am salivating.

Anyways, this class will be on Tuesday, September 27 from 6-8pm at Scrapbook Buddies in Temple City. The cost is $12 and you can sign up over the phone by calling (626) 286-2846. You will need a basic tool kit (scissors, Scrappy Glue, and distressing ink). If you can't make it to the class you can always call and reserve a kit that will include a picture and directions (if necessary).

I can't wait to hang this up in my bedroom to remind me of all I have to be grateful for...

XOXO,
